The European new car market recorded its 24th consecutive month of growth in August 2015, reflecting the ongoing recovery seen across the region. Some 744,799 cars were registered in the month, a rise of 11.2%.
Gains were made across all major markets, led by Spain (23.3%) and followed by Italy (10.6%), France (10%), the UK (9.6%) and Germany (6.2%).
Figures for the year to date were similarly positive with registrations surpassing nine million units (9,056,539) – up 8.6% over the same period last year. Again, all major markets saw growth: both Spain (22.3%) and Italy (15%) posted double-digit rises, ahead of the UK (6.7%), France (5.9%) and Germany (5.6%).
