Today, SMMT released figures for September pre-registrations in the UK new car market.

Strong September drives 2013 UK car production to 1,125,433 units, up 3.9% on 2012. CV output continues downward trend, dropping 27.5% in September to 6,963 units. 230,743 engines were manufactured in September, up 8.3% on last year.

A European Commission-backed consortium led by Nissan and also including Renault, BMW, Volkswagen and Electricity Supply Board will establish a rapid charging network for electric vehicles to run the length and breadth of the UK.
