The motor industry’s self-regulatory body, Motor Codes, has become the UK’s largest consumer code of practice to receive government backing, with millions of motorists benefiting from the service every year. Jo Swinson MP, Consumer Affairs Minister, spoke at this week’s Trading Standards conference in Brighton where a new Trading Standards-led Consumer Codes Approval Scheme was launched to the public.

As the Chancellor of the Exchequer considers the next Spending Round, the UK automotive industry has called for long-term strategic support to match the ambitions and priorities of the forthcoming Automotive Sector Industrial Strategy.

UK car manufacturing fell 8.4% in May to 129,355, but still outperforms pre-recession levels.

The European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) welcomes the legislative proposal on eCall published by the European Commission, and calls on all stakeholders to work together to deliver safe, affordable motoring on Europe’s roads.
