On 19 March, SMMT stages the second in a series of sourcing
seminars for the motor industry. Component suppliers will meet face to face
with some of the biggest names in UK premium and niche vehicle manufacturing.
Manufacturers attending include Bentley Motor Cars, Jensen,
London Taxis International and MG Rover. The seminar will also benefit from
expert industry insight from Tim Burt, motor industry correspondent for the
Financial Times.
The sourcing seminars were conceived by SMMT as a way of giving
component companies access to the key decision makers and help them understand
how future purchasing policies are likely to develop. The first was held in
October 2001 and was deemed to be extremely beneficial to all of the attendees.
Commenting on the forthcoming event, SMMT Chief Executive Christopher
Macgowan, said, ‘We have more vehicle brands in the UK than any other member
state. We must ensure that we have a strong supplier base to keep vehicle manufacturing
here. This seminar will enable suppliers and manufacturers to explore new business
opportunities.’
