Component manufacturers have been invited to a sourcing forum
organised by SMMT at Nissan’s Sunderland plant on 14 May 2002. Companies attending
will explore Nissan’s purchasing strategies and hear how the local Regional
Development Agency (RDA) and SMMT can help their businesses.
The event will offer a chance to hear from key decision makers
within Nissan Motor Manufacturing UK, as well as Mike Collier, chief executive
of One North East, and SMMT chief executive, Christopher Macgowan.
Commenting on the event, Christopher Macgowan said, ‘I believe
that attendance will be highly beneficial for component companies wishing to
work with key global vehicle manufacturers. Seminars like these allow business
to develop purchasing strategies together and explore new opportunities. This
is the third sourcing seminar organised by SMMT, and we are planning more, having
had tremendous feedback from companies involved in previous events’.
Notes to Editors:
- The UK automotive components sector is estimated to have
around 2000 companies, with a total industry value of £16 billion.
- SMMT has organised two previous sourcing events, focusing
on specialist and niche vehicle manufacturers and commercial vehicle manufacturers.
