04 July 2003 #Cars #Registrations #SMMT News

  • June new car market up 15.8 per cent to 240,174 units
  • Private registrations showed their best performance of 2003, up 16.1 per cent
  • Diesel market up 31.6 per cent to 62,866 units

  • Commenting on the new car registrations data, SMMT chief executive Christopher Macgowan said, ‘In a month which saw independent sources position UK car prices as the second lowest in Europe, it is great to see such a strong June total. New car registrations beat all expectations as private buyers took advantage of a fiercely competitive market and the fantastic offers which are currently available in UK showrooms.’
