Automechanika 2004 was another success for British exhibitors at Europe’s leading component and accessory supply show. SMMT took a 70 – strong group of delegates to the exhibition, to help them find new business.
One British exhibitor who won orders worth £20,000 and expects up to £250,000 in repeat business said, ‘It was the best exhibition result we have ever had’. Another UK firm reported ‘over 50 firm business leads to follow up’ and closed a deal worth some £300,000.
Having so many customers in one area worked well for exhibitors, however, some felt that the event ran for too long. One exhibitor said, ‘Why can’t the organisers learn from other events and keep Automechanika to four business days?’
SMMT has taken these concerns on board with the ATS @ CV Show, the UK’s main automotive component and aftermarket show. It runs alongside the CV Show, Europe’s biggest and most successful business commercial vehicle show for three days – an ideal length of time for business to be concluded.
The ATS @ CV show had its most successful year in 2004, with a total of nearly 29,000 visitors and 600 exhibitors. Running from 5-7 April 2005, next year’s event could be even better. Exhibitor space is being snapped up even faster than last year.
