‘The November rolling year total for van and truck registrations, of 390,762 units, has exceeded previous months’ figures, placing them at levels unseen since September 2006,’ said Christopher Macgowan, SMMT chief executive. ‘Registrations are up 8.9% on the same period last year. Trucks did particularly well again this month, confirming the recovery trend witnessed over the course of the year, as regulatory distortions clear. Demand for light commercial vehicles in November remained equally strong, with year-on-year growth of 4.5%, supported by robust demand for heavy vans. This sustained growth across all commercial vehicles, suggests that 2008 will be a good year for the industry.’
