Chaired by Ian Lockhart, Head of Automotive at UKTI, the Overseas Investment session at the SMMT International Automotive Summit was underpinned by the UK government’s renewed focus on plans for growing the economy by increasing UK exports to high growth and emerging international markets.
‘Britain open for business’ was the central theme of the session, which also included panel speakers Professor Mark Jenkins, Director of Research and Business Strategy, Thomas Thorelli, Partner/Owner, Thorelli & Associates and Nick Cunningham, Partner, Wragge & Co. Jenkins presented their business strategies designed to help UK businesses enter new overseas markets through measures to improve business capability and performance.
Legal expert, Thorelli, then gave attendees practical and essential legal advice, aimed at companies looking to establish new business ventures in the US. Nick Cunningham rounded off the session with at look at Asia’s emerging prospects, focussing in SME growth in China and India and the role that their respective governments play in supporting the growth of western businesses in East Asia.
