- Regional growth fund awards £2.7 million towards automotive logistics project
- £22.5 million project to significantly increase supply chain efficiency
Vantec Europe Ltd, which provides logistics support to Nissan, Komatsu UK, Birtley and Cummins Engines, in the North East was awarded £2.7million from the second round of the Regional Growth Fund to support the new warehouse project.
The latest investment will provide 230 new jobs across the wider supply chain by 2015 and will create a new state of the art, 421,000 sq ft logistics facility next to Nissan’s Sunderland plant. George Osborne MP recently visited to praise the development.
“It is great news to celebrate significant new contracts for Vantec Europe and new jobs. We are delighted that Vantec is receiving strong support from Sunderland City Council and the NE Local Enterprise Partnership,” said Takao Suzuki, Chief Executive Hitachi Transport System, Vantec’s parent company.
“It’s the largest project we’ve ever undertaken and it’s an important step forward for the company, now the largest supplier of critical logistics to Nissan Sunderland plant.”
