Volkswagen Group Green Refurbishment

01 July 2013 #Sustainability Case studies

When the Volkswagen Group redeveloped their head office reception, waste minimisation and energy efficiency were key considerations.

The refurbishment included the addition of solar shading to reduce the glare and heat of the sun on bright days and a new, more efficient, lighting system which reduces the daily electricity consumption by sufficient to power ten homes..

During the project materials were re-used or recycled wherever possible.  The old lighting rigs were donated to Milton Keynes District Scouts to enable them to floodlight a new climbing tower at their Quarries campsite, which is used by scouts, guides, schools and youth organisations from around the region. The furniture went to Oakgrove School in Milton Keynes where it has been used to help refurbish both the staff room and 6th form common room.
