News from National Express: The UK’s largest coach operator and YHA (England and Wales) have formed a ground-breaking partnership to sell coach tickets in Youth Hostels throughoutEngland and Wales.

National Express and Eurolines coach tickets can now be bought at Youth Hostels located in some of the most iconic and picturesque tourist destinations in the country.

The joint venture will, for the first time, bring the convenience of being able to book onward coach travel to other Youth Hostels during a stay at YHA accommodation.

Hostellers can now look forward to making multiple hops from hostel to hostel to see as much of the UK as they like while enjoying affordable, comfortable and reliable travel with National Express.

They can also book Eurolines services opening up the possibility of travelling to 500 destinations across Europe and Ireland.

Coach tickets are now on sale in 27 YHA Youth Hostels including Ambleside, Bath, Canterbury, Grasmere, Keswick, London, Windermere and York.

National Express UK Coach Managing Director Tom Stables said, “The UK has so many wonderful places to visit and this exciting partnership will make it that much easier for young people to travel and stay around the UK without breaking the bank.

“By linking the national coach network with some of the UK’s top youth hostels, young people can make an onward hop from one hostel to the next and extend their adventures around the country.”

Caroline White, Chief Executive of YHA, said, “We want to make it as easy as possible for young people to discover more of the incredible locations we have in England and Wales and we’re able to do that through our partnership with National Express.

“The partnership has YHA’s mission to inspire young people, broaden their horizons, gain knowledge and independence through new experiences of adventure and discovery, at its heart.”

The news comes as the number of young people travelling with National Express this month soared.

Young people have made five times as many passenger journeys in February using a National Express Young Persons Coachcard compared to the same period last year. That’s a year-on-year increase of more than thirty thousand journeys.

The Young Persons Coachcard enables students to save a third off their coach journeys and also offers 10 per cent off travel to favourite student events such asGlastonbury and Wembley football matches.
