Demand for commercial vehicles rose across Europe for the six month in a row in February according to new figures from trade body ACEA.
Total registrations for the period were up by 13.7% to 125,241 units. Spain recorded the biggest upswing in numbers with a 49.2% increase, Germany the second at 19.6% and the UK in third at 16.3%.
The first two months of the year are up by 8.7% overall at 257,509 units. France is the only major market which recorded a downturn in numbers while Spain again leads the way with a 47.1% rise. The UK is nearly in double-digit growth with a 9.4% increase compared with the same period last year.
Light commercial vehicle registrations grew by 18.5% for the first two months of the year in the UK, and by 8.9% across Europe.
While there was Europe-wide increase of 14.5% for trucks over 16t, the UK posted a 41.2% fall in registrations. For commercial vehicles between 3.5t and 16t, a 35.2% drop in the UK also contrasts with a 9.1% increase for the EU as a whole.
The market for bus and coach declined across Europe by 2.2% and by 10.3% in the UK over the first two months of the year.
