Vauxhall reveals all-new, UK-built Vivaro

Vauxhall has released the first images of its all-new Vivaro, which will enter production at the manufacturer’s Luton plant in the UK later this year.

New Vivaro 2014 rearThe manufacturer promises more usable space in both the loadbay and in the cabin, while the design aims to move the van on considerably from the previous version which has been on sale for 13 years.

The new Vivaro is 216mm longer than its predecessor and will be available from this summer in two different overall lengths of 4,998 and 5,398mm. Besides a regular panel van, the Vivaro will continue to be available in Combi and double cab configurations.

All standard roof versions of the van will be built at Vauxhall’s Luton plant where 900,000 of the vans have been produced since 2001.

The vehicle conversion centre added to the line in 2009 will also allow Vauxhall to offer more

variants of the Vivaro off the line and further broaden its appeal to buyers with specific requirements.

Two all-new 1.6-litre turbodiesel engines will power the range, one a twin turbocharged unit. Full performance figures are yet to be released, but fuel consumption of 47mpg on the official combined cycle is promised.

“After 13 successful years on the market, we wante3d to make the new Vivaro’s packaging even more attractive while raising the standard of core capabilities.

“The new Vivaro showcases sculptural artistry and technical precision. This gives it a sharpened and more refined character making it the ideal mobile business card.”

Two trim levels will be on offer from launch. Variant features durable black plastic mouldings for the front bumper, grille, mirror housings and rear trim, while Sportive colour-matches these items to the body and adds chrome detailing to the grille. Buyers will be able to pick from five solid and six two-coat metallic finishes.
