News from Continental: Continental’s Third Generation tyres will be fitted as standard on MAN Truck & Bus from May 2014.
The Conti EcoPlus HS3 for steer axles and the Conti EcoPlus HD3 for drive axles in sizes 315/70R22.5 and 315/70R22.5 XL were the first to obtain approval for all MAN models.
With its tyre family, Continental has consistently focused on long-haul use and regional distribution, mainly on motorways. Thanks to the specially adjusted rubber compounds, new tread design, and reduced rolling resistance, they give customers the benefit of fuel savings of up to 1.9 litres over 100 kilometres – without compromising on mileage performance. The steer axle tyres also demonstrate improved wet grip behaviour and feature a Visual Alignment Indicator (VAI).
In the bus and coach segment, the Conti Coach HA3 succeeded in fulfilling the manufacturer’s technical specifications as an all-round tyre fitment for long distance coach travel, while the Conti CityPlus HA3 won plaudits for regional travel.
The coach tyres, specially designed for greater speed and comfort on long-haul journeys, offer fuel-efficient mileage, excellent wet braking behaviour, and reliable tracking and steering precision. The regional travel tyres stand out with great mileage performance, even wear, and excellent handling and wet grip properties over the entire service life.
All 3rd generation Continental tyres are based on a re-treadable premium carcass with reinforced steel cord beads.
