The new generation Renault Master has made its world premiere at the 2014 Commercial Vehicle Show. Renault’s large van will be available in UK dealerships from the end of summer 2014 with order books open from June. With the Trafic van also unveiled at the Show, Renault is nearing the end of its comprehensive renewal of the range, reinforcing the firm’s position as Europe’s number one LCV manufacturer, a status it has enjoyed since 1998.

The Master, manufactured at Renault’s SOVAB plant in Batilly, France, is equipped with a new twin turbo 2.3 dCi engines, which has been refined to provide more power (up to 165hp), but returning up to 7.3mpg better fuel consumption. That can be improved even further by using the ECOmode option, which can save up to 10% more.

A new front grille is a key visual upgrade on the New Master, in keeping with Renault’s new styling identity across the rest of the brand’s LCV range. Beneath the bonnet, the range brings in a host of technologies, including latest-generation ESC, Grip Xtend, Hill Start Assist, Trailer Swing Assist and the clever Wide View mirror.

The New Master range continues to offer a made-to-measure selection of more than 120 versions in the UK, with a choice of four lengths and three heights, panel van, crew cab, platform cab, chassis cab, tippers, dropside and box van variants, as well as front- and rear-wheel drive, for a carrying capacity of between eight and 22 cubic metres. New additions are the L4H2 and L4H3 panel van versions with single rear wheels.
