Promoting UK automotive is key to its future success

Everyone in the UK automotive industry needs to play their part in marketing and promoting the sector as effectively as possible.

These were the closing thoughts of Joe Greenwell CBE, CEO of the Automotive Investment Organisation, at the SMMT International Automotive Summit. He commented that the facts show the industry is growing and will continue to grow, so we must do what we can to dispel the myth that there is no automotive industry in the UK.

He stated that we need to highlight successes of the UK, such as the recent news that new car registrations are up for 27 consecutive months and that manufacturing is continuing to rise.

Joe Greenwell also noted that promoting the successes of the sector will help to attract investment and reshore the supply chain. Ensuring that the UK has a strong domestic supply chain will guarantee the continuing growth and success of the industry.

Organisations such as the Automotive Council and Automotive Investment Organisation are working with SMMT to make certain the industry continues its success by strengthening the supply chain through events such as Meet the Buyer. The organisations are also working together so there is a skilled workforce to continue to produce the quality products that are rolling off our production lines.
