News from MAN: Building materials solutions provider Cemex UK, has added a fleet of 27 new MAN TGX 26.440BLS 6×2 tractor units for operation out of its cement production plant in Rugby. 60 MAN units now make up the majority of the 90 strong Cemex Cement Logistics fleet.

The new MAN fleet has been acquired with Repair & Maintenance cover and on a five-year financial package through MAN Financial Services. Cemex has stated its strong operational partnership with MAN was crucial factor in its decision to acquire MAN trucks.

With a clear focus on safety, Cemex has specified a range of additional vehicle safety equipment in line with its existing fleet, which is one of the reasons why they have been afforded Gold standard status by the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS), operated by Transport for London.

“We enjoy a very healthy relationship with MAN, and have done so for many years,” said Dave Hart, National Cement Logistics & Terminals Manager, “High on our agenda is fleet efficiency; uptime is critical and we have to know that MAN shares that commitment. The support we receive from MAN Truck & Bus Nuneaton allows us to meet these key requirements. Together we have formed a strong operational partnership.”

Already in service, the new MANs are helping to move the two million tonnes per annum of bulk powder product from Rugby to a number of customers around the UK.
