News from Volkswagen: Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is bringing out the dark side of its Caddy range with the introduction of a sleek new special model.
The Caddy Black Edition is based on the popular Highline specification but includes £2,150 of additional equipment, representing a customer saving of £1,350. The striking new model goes on sale 1 October and is available until 31 December 2014.
The multi award-winning Caddy is the first Volkswagen commercial vehicle to be offered in prestigious Black Edition form and features a premium specification that makes it the most luxurious Caddy ever built.
Bolstering a Highline specification that already includes body-coloured bumpers, mirrors and door handles, fog lights, rear parking sensors, climatic air conditioning, cruise control, Bluetooth phone connectivity with trip computer and multi-function display, the Caddy Black Edition has considerable kerb appeal thanks to its striking Deep Black Pearlescent paint, unique black and polished 17-inch alloy wheels and silver roof rails and radiator grille surround. Drivers also benefit from a multi-functional steering wheel, leather gear knob and gaiter, heated wing mirrors and electric windows as standard.
Available in short-wheelbase panel van form only, the Caddy Black Edition is powered by a frugal 1.6-litre TDI common rail direct injection engine that develops 102PS and 250Nm of torque, and is offered with a five-speed manual transmission. BlueMotion Technology – which includes hill-hold assist, energy recuperation and start/stop – means drivers can expect fuel economy of 55.4mpg (combined) and low CO2 emissions of just 134g/km.
To give the Black Edition a sportier appearance and improved handling the Dynamic Suspension reduces the ride height by 27mm. Inside, the seats are trimmed in leather and Alcantara while the cabin is separated from the load cube by a full-height solid bulkhead.
As with all Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, the Caddy Black Edition is more than just a visually attractive package. Despite its premium features, the Black Edition is every bit as practical and hard-working as any Caddy model. Its load volume of 3.2cu metres makes its one of the most spacious vans in the sector.
The new Caddy Black Edition goes on sale from 1 October with an on-the-road price tag of £17,860 (ex. VAT).
