News from Scania: Cranleigh, Surrey-based Gastonia Coaches is celebrating 50 years in business this year, similar to Scania, and has taken delivery of a high-specification Scania Irizar i6 touring coach.

Based on a Scania K 360 IB4x2 chassis, the vehicle features a unique blue livery with mirror finish decals created specially to mark Gastonia’s Golden Jubilee. The vehicle’s Irizar i6 bodywork includes 53 seats, washroom, servery and extra dark tinted glass.

“The introduction of this vehicle into our fleet is the icing on our 50th anniversary cake,” says Gastonia Coaches Managing Director Josie Bicknell.  “Back in the mid-1980s we became the first operator to put a Scania K 112 coach with an integral Plaxton 3500 Paramount body into service, and we have had a deep appreciation for the Scania marque since then.  While the bedrock of our business today is school’s work, this vehicle will be running on our high-end trips and tours.”
