News from Scania: In addition to displaying a broad range of information related to its passenger carrying vehicles and associated services, Scania will be exhibiting two vehicles in the outside display area at this year’s Euro Bus Expo show.

Both vehicles – a Scania Irizar i3 service bus and a Scania Touring coach – will be making their UK debuts at the event.

Scania Irizar i3

Available in body lengths from 10.9 to 15-metres, the Scania Irizar i3 is a flexible, high specification service bus and the latest addition to the long-standing and well established UK Scania Irizar range. The show vehicle is a 12-metre example based upon a Scania K 250 UB4x2 chassis featuring Scania’s nine-litre, 250 horsepower Euro-6 engine and a ZF EcoLife1 six-speed fully automatic gearbox driving through a Scania ADA1300 rear axle with a differential ratio of 4.88:1.

The vehicle’s low entry body includes an ergonomically-designed driver’s area and 39 Kiel Indigo seats and six tip-up seats. Entry is by way of twin front doors with wheelchair access provided by a Masats manual ramp. The body also includes convector heating, four hopper windows, detachable side panels and an emergency exit side door. CCTV wiring with preparation for eight cameras is part of the vehicle’s standard specification, Mobitec destination equipment is fitted at the front, rear and side and Irizar has supplied the vehicle’s stainless steel diesel tank.

Scania Touring

Launched to the UK market in June of this year, the Scania Touring coach has rapidly proved itself to be an attractive choice with orders already in the pipeline for Skills Motor Coaches Limited of Nottingham and Tranzcare Travel Limited of Manchester.

The 13.7-metre overall length show model is based on a 6×2*4 rear-steer Scania chassis and features Scania’s highly fuel-efficient 410 horsepower Euro 6 engine and Scania’s fully-automated Opticruise gear selection system. The chassis also benefits from added safety features such as lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, advanced emergency braking and electronic stability programme. Inside, the vehicle is equipped with the standard 57 Kiel seats with semi-leather headrests and piping, together with dark tinted glass, Bosch DVD and 2 LCD monitors, AD drinks system, refrigerator, seat back tables, footrests, magazine holders and full air conditioning.

The Scania Touring is offered as a fully built-up product, with all aspects of service available via Scania’s international dealer network. The vehicle is assembled on a dedicated production line in China, enabling Scania to maintain full control of all manufacturing and quality aspects.
