News from Renault: G. Webb Haulage Ltd has taken delivery of its first Renault. The Renault Range C 8×4 tipper with custom-built Aliweld body is an addition to G.Webb Haulage’s 42-strong Volvo, DAF and MAN fleet.

The light chassis, payload, fuel consumption and driver satisfaction were the key factors in G.Webb’s vehicle selection.

The Range C is being used to service G.Webb’s contract with Thames Water across West London and in to the West Country. Mac McMurdo, General Manager of G.Webb Haulage, said, “When researching new Euro-6 vehicles, and in particular the chassis, the Renault Range C was especially light. In our business we are extremely weight conscious; so if we guarantee our customers a 20 tonne payload, then that is what we deliver. The new Range C, combined with the Aliweld body provided the perfect solution for our particular needs.

“The initial fuel consumption figures are looking good too with an average nine mpg and this is with a tight engine so I would expect this to improve over time. Our drivers are also really happy; they like the ride and the big cab, which is great as they are often out all week. Overall we are really happy with our first Renault purchase.”

G. Webb Haulage Ltd was established in 1947 by the late George Webb. Initially offering vehicle breakdown, recovery and service, the company progressed to heavy plant, contracting and tipper vehicles. G.Webb, headquartered in Longstanton near the great strategic crossroads of Cambridge, carries a wide range of materials in bulk and specialises in the haulage and disposal of all types of contaminated soils and waste, offering a nationwide transport solution.
