Volvo Trucks has unveiled an FH and FH16 sleeper cab with an extra-low roof, designed for use where height is restricted, such as mining operations.
Both models come with the same drivetrain and spec as other cab versions, but with an entirely flat roof that has been lowered by 190mm. With a potential height of 3.2m, this version fits conveniently within the regular 3.4m height limit of mine tunnels.
“Certain customers need both low cab height and high load capacity,” says Product Manager Roger Brorsson. “The FH and FH16 with low cab roof offer the possibility of a vehicle with up to 750hp and a gross combination weight of 120-tonnes.”
For extra safety and protection against falling rocks and other hazards, there is an optional aluminium roof shield, which adds just 15mm to the cab’s height. The shield is designed to protect driver and vehicle, and helps to reduce in-cab noise levels.
