Liverpool-based builder’s merchants and DIY suppliers Jem Centres has taken delivery of its first new truck, a new-series Volvo FL.
The firm was looking for a truck that would be “versatile” and “cope well with heavy traffic”, says Director Janet Lloyd, to deal with the variety of building materials the firm delivers.
“We have always purchased used vehicles in the past and felt that we were, in effect, buying someone else’s specification. This time, we decided to order the truck we need to do the job,” she adds.
Jem Centres’ driver Paul Mundle says the Volvo FL is living up to expectations, praising it for being “manoeuvrable” and “comfortable”. Visibility is “great”, too, according to the man behind the wheel.
The firm specified the truck with Volvo’s D250K engine and the I-Sync automated gearbox, with the addition of a Fassi 110b.0.22 crane mounted on the rear of the chassis.
