Commercial vehicle registrations reached 40,491 units in February – up month-on-month by 19.5%, the latest SMMT figures show.
Truck registrations led the charge with an increase of 31.7%, 2,092 units for the month, taking the year-to-date’s total to 4,610.
Strong performance was sustained in the van sector with a 19.5% rise to 13,832 units, taking 2015’s total to 35,881.
Year-on-year, truck registrations were up by 18.9% and van registrations down by 21.8%.
“The truck market posted a second month of growth in February, with volumes up by more than a third so far this year. While it might be too early to claim a full recovery, it appears to be on the right track,” said Mike Hawes, SMMT Chief Executive.
“The van market continues to expand, posting a tenth consecutive month of increases as improving confidence among SMEs and consumers takes effect. The growing demand for both vans and trucks has delivered a month of impressive performance for the total commercial vehicle sector once again.”
