Suffolk-based Hewicks Haulage has praised the quality of service from Volvo Truck and Bus Centre East Anglia, following its order of a pair of FH-540 6×2 tractor units.
The Euro-6 compliant Volvo FH tractor units, designed for tanker work where they carry liquid animal feed across the country, have proven to be “streets ahead in terms of comfort, all-round visibility and driveability”, according to Hewicks Haulage Director Carl Brinkley.
Truck reliability is “crucial” for the firm, as is the happiness of Hewicks’ drivers. “I must say the drivers of the new Volvo FH trucks love them,” says Brinkley. “They tell me they are a big improvement on the previous generation FH and they are definitely happy we have invested in them.”
The haulage firm is also using Dynafleet technology to monitor the fleet’s performance. “The new Volvo FHs are achieving, on average, about eight mpg at 44 tonnes,” reveals Brinkley,” who receives a weekly fleet report which helps “operate and maintain our Volvo trucks more proactively”.
