BT’s biggest fleet refresh yet has seen Ford supply 1,000 commercial vehicles throughout the first three months of 2015.
More than 500 new Ford Transit Custom and 200 Ford Transit vans are among the order, with the rest made up of Ford Fiesta vans.
The order follows BT’s comprehensive review of its needs for the next seven years. Some vans will replace current customer service engineer vehicles, while others will meet BT’s expanding demand for products and services across the UK.
Engineers based at exchange buildings will use the Ford Fiesta vans. The Ford Transit Customs will be used to carry equipment required by customer services engineers. The Transits are long-wheelbase, high-roof panel models.
Ford’s biggest challenge was delivering to a tight timescale. Ian Watson, Ford’s Manager of Direct and Municipal Sales, said the firm is “delighted to have been able to meet BT’s requirements in terms of speed of delivery and quality of product”.
