Penny Hydraulics has launched its new range of PH vehicle mounted cranes designed for vehicles with gross weights up to 18-tonnes.
The cranes have been launched to satisfy the need for higher capacity lifting equipment and in response to pressure to eliminate manual load handling. The PH range includes more than 470 different models featuring lifting capacities between 0.5 and 5.0 tons/metre. The boom will extend up to 6.83m, depending on model. Optional extras include full stability control, high-speed hoists and radio remote control.
Each PH crane incorporates full hydraulic control, which overcomes the need to access the load bed, therefore reducing the risk of working at height. Coupled with proportional controls, it reduces the risk of sudden or unexpected movements that could cause accidents involving the user or bystanders. Both 12 and 24-volt versions are available, or where a vehicle power take-off (PTO) is fitted, the crane can be powered mechanically.
Weight has been reduced where possible by using high-strength steels to minimise the impact on vehicle payload, which is particularly critical for vehicles operating near the 3.5-tonne and 7.5-tonne gross weight thresholds. All PH crane models are built by Next Hydraulics in Italy.
Penny Hydraulics is offering two types of remote control, either the traditional wander lead remote, or a wireless system enabling the user to stand in the best position without the restrictions of a cable connection. No smartphone app remote control is currently available, but Penny Hydraulics is monitoring demand for the future.
All vehicles fitted with a PH crane need stabiliser legs and a variety of mechanical and hydraulically operated legs are available.
