A new fleet of Mercedes-Benz eight-wheelers has joined a waste management company’s eco drive.

Fitted with Hyva hook-loading equipment, LondonWaste’s seven Arocs 3240Ks are based at Edmonton EcoPark, serving a network of household re-use and recycling centres.

Powered by 294bhp straight-six engines, the vehicles will be used to collect and deliver up to 15 tonnes of recycling materials.

LondonWaste’s Head of Operations Julian Appleby said, “As we look to reduce waste, reuse it, recycle it and recover energy from it, with disposal as the last resort, these low-emission, Euro-6 vehicles are playing a vital role in moving materials to the right places to increase their value and usability.

“Serving the capital city, we work in some tight spaces so access is essential to our operation. Compared with our previous trucks, these Mercedes-Benz vehicles offer a vast improvement in terms of manoeuvrability and control. They provide a secure and smooth drive; seating is much better, as is the design of the dashboard which wraps around the driver.”

LondonWaste’s new trucks also come with Mercedes-Benz FleetBoard telematics, allowing the firm to track driver performance and fuel consumption.
