Nick Robinson, one of the UK’s most well-respected political news broadcasters, is to be the celebrity guest speaker at the SMMT 99th Annual Dinner, which will be held on Tuesday 24 November 2015 at Grosvenor House Hotel, London.
Nick Robinson took the mantle of BBC Political Editor from Andrew Marr in 2005, following three years in the same role at ITV News. A former Deputy Editor of On the Record and Panorama, Nick has vast broadcasting experience, both behind the camera as well as onscreen.
Nick cemented his reputation as an authoritative figure in UK political journalism during the 2010 and 2015 General Elections, guiding his audience through every twist and turn of the historic events with sharp insight and a welcome wit.
The SMMT Annual Dinner is a must-attend event in the automotive calendar, hosting some 1,000 guests from across the industry, as well as key members of government and the media. In addition to Nick’s speech, guests will hear from SMMT President Gareth Jones, Managing Director of ebm-papst Automotive and Drives UK, as he reflects on the industry’s successes and challenges, and looks ahead to 2016.
“SMMT’s Annual Dinner is always a highlight for the automotive industry, and with Nick Robinson providing the keynote speech, 2015’s event certainly won’t disappoint,” said Mike Hawes, SMMT Chief Executive. “Following the recent General Election, Nick will be sure to provide an incisive and unique insight into the current and future political environment of Britain, and its effect on UK automotive.”
The 99th Annual Dinner will also see the announcement of the winner of this year’s Award for Automotive Innovation, as well as the Autocar Courland Next Generation Award during the evening’s proceedings.
