A Buckinghamshire-based crane operator is to represent the UK in the World Crane Championships after winning the UK heat.
The unusual contest is sponsored in the UK by HIAB, which supplies cranes and other truck-mounted equipment to more than 100 markets across the world.
Trevor Tack, who works for Brackley-based civil engineering firm Agetur, won the UK finals for his skills in operating a truck-mounted crane, which took place at the recent Convoy in the Park truck show at Donington Park. It is the second time that he has won the UK heats, having been crowned UK champion previously at the CV Show in 2016.
Trevor will now go forward into September’s final, which will take place at the IAA Commercial Vehicle Show in Hannover next month, for a chance to be crowned 2018 World Crane Champion and to win a prize worth €25,000 for himself and his employer. He will go up against the 14 winners of the other national heats.
Rogier van der Linde, MD of HIAB (UK & Ireland) Ltd, said: “Congratulations again to Trevor – he not only proved himself a worthy UK champion, but is also a credit to his employer. Last time, he proved to be a tremendous ambassador for HIAB at the World Crane Championships finals, and we will be cheering him along every step of the way in Hannover in September.”
