  • UK engine production stable in August, with 0.3% growth.
  • Exports up 24.9%, offsetting decline in output for UK due to model and structural changes.
  • Year-to-date production boosted to 1.8m units as global demand for UK’s high-tech, low emission powertrains continues.

Mike Hawes, SMMT Chief Executive, said:

It is encouraging that long-term investments in British engine technology and production facilities have provided a solid foundation for growth. Everyone wants to see that continue, and the strong overseas demand for UK-built engines only serves to underline the extreme importance of maintaining free and frictionless trade with key overseas markets.
