Hundreds of hauliers have backed a suggestion that the Large Goods Vehicle Driver apprenticeship should include category C+E.
The backing came in a survey carried out last month by the logistics industry Trailblazer Group on behalf of the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IFATE) – the body that approves apprenticeships.
The survey was designed to test industry appetite for the potential addition after concern that its exclusion from the licence would render the apprenticeship ‘not fit for purpose’ and fail to help address driver recruitment challenges.
A meeting is now to be held to decide whether to include category C+E in the apprenticeship.
