Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup has announced the launch of its new bus operation, VinBus, which will operate 3,000 all-electric buses across the country from March 2020.
The move is part of efforts to build a modern and sustainable public transport network that covers major metropolitan areas, including Hanoi, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho and to reduce both air and noise pollution.
All of the buses will be manufactured by Vingroup company VinFast as part of a strategy to develop environmentally-friendly electric vehicles in general, and electric buses in particular.
VinBus will be operated on a not-for-profit basisi with all revenue generated being reinvested to improve service quality, develop the system and expand operations to more areas.
