Michelin has announced an extension of its X Multi truck tyre range. Two new multi-position and drive tyres have been added that, under Michelin test conditions, provided increased mileage potential of up to 15% and 10% respectively.
Two new high load capacity tyres have also been added, which in tests have provided mileage increases of up to 30% when compared to the outgoing compound.
315/80 R22.5 X Multi Z (multi-position) and D (drive) tyres have been added to the range due to “substantial market demand”. X Multi Z features Michelin’s new Regenion self-regenerating tread, which “delivers grip in all conditions throughout its working life.” They also include InfiniCoil, which is a steel wire wrapped around the tyre to improve fuel efficiency and mileage potential. Forcion is an additional Michelin technology included in the compound, which improves resistance to abrasions, cuts, chunking and chipping.
The load-bearing trailer tyre, HLT, has been launched to counter the challenges posed by, “tri-axle trailers in specific applications increasingly making way for tandems.” Capable of carrying an additional tonne per axle, HLT incorporates Regenion and Carbion technologies to enhance durability and offer up to 25% greater life expectancy.
The new tyres, which have achieved 3PMSF (3 Peak Mountain Snowflake) certification, continue Michelin’s ‘Everything Sustainable’ pledge. This means they can be regrooved and retreaded to maximise longevity depending upon application.
