MAN Now has gone live in the UK and is the first digital service to provide over-the-air truck upgrades. The platform will enable fleet operators to adapt truck functionality depending on their needs via mobile internet.
MAN OnlineTraffic is the first available upgrade and enables the planning of optimal routes using real-time data based on current traffic conditions. The system is optimised for HGV use and considers traffic restrictions such as maximum height and weight limits to minimise disruption.
Fleet managers are able to equip vehicles with the latest features and upgrades wirelessly and without visiting the workshop on a needs-orientated basis. The company stated that customers who have opted for the MAN media system Navigation Advanced are able to access the service free of charge for one year, or two years for those with the Professional system.
According to MAN, its OnlineTraffic programme is only the beginning, “In future, MAN Now will afford fleet managers the option of adapting the software configuration of their vehicles to suit the prevailing commercial requirements, such as software to reduce fuel consumption, gearbox driving programmes or additional language packs.”
