Cornish aggregates, waste and construction operator Brunel has taken delivery of two Mercedes-Benz trucks, including the limited-edition Actros Edition 1.
The new Actros Edition 1, which is the haulier’s first tractor unit, is one of only 400 models built, with 35 made available to UK customers.
Based on the GigaSpace cab, the Actros Edition 1 comes with black grille, darkened headlamp covers and rims, and branded sun visor incorporating four extra LED main-beam headlamps.
Brunel’s example is powered by a 15.6-litre in-line six-cylinder engine that produces 460 kW (625 hp) and comes with MirrorCam, Active Brake Assist 5, and enhanced Predictive Powertrain Control technology.
The Edition 1 will work with a pair of new trailers by Kel-Berg on one of Plymouth’s biggest ever civil engineering projects, the Forder Valley Link Road, in which Brunel is heavily engaged.
This tri-axled low-loader will transport the company’s own plant, while the Hardox steel tipping trailer can carry up to 27 tonnes of soil and stone to and from the site.
The other new vehicle is an eight-wheeled 8×4 Arocs tipper, which had been pre-bodied for the dealer’s stock and was delivered at short notice.
Managing Director Brian Venables said: “Our experience of running Mercedes-Benz Trucks over the last six years has been entirely positive. We’re very proud to be running a fabulous Actros Edition 1 – as our first tractor unit, it’s added an extra dimension to our range of capabilities.”
