Four months of growth for commercial vehicle production

29 July 2021 #Uncategorised

This week’s monthly production figures point to a seemingly steady recovery against a backdrop of increased demand, but the battle is far from over when it comes to matching the momentum the market was experiencing before the pandemic hit.

The shortage of semiconductors continues to impact on output, and the sector faces a significant challenge as increasing numbers of workers find themselves being asked to self-isolate.

However, van production levels remain strong, and recent long-term investment announcements will ensure the UK retains a healthy commercial vehicle manufacturing sector. As the whole industry races to transition to zero emission vehicles, investment in charging and refuelling infrastructure will be key to making sure the CV sector keeps pace.
