Keeping the lights on

02 December 2021 #Uncategorised

The recent driver shortage shone a light on the logistics industry, but away from media scrutiny, skill shortages are now at an all-time high across all sectors. Therefore it has never been more critical to attract a broader range of people to our industry.

With the transition to new technologies in full flow, the automotive sector is also facing profound challenges. A key factor in addressing them is to promote diversity, equity, and inclusivity, with all the new ideas, approaches, and innovation this would bring and create.

Creating a workforce that reflects the makeup of the communities in which we work, and our evolving customer base, is crucial for determining the future success of our industry.

As part of our efforts to support the sector on this path, SMMT are hosting a roundtable discussion on Women in Transport and Logistics in partnership with Visie Communications and the City of London Corporation. The roundtable will be held in person, and we invite members to join the room virtually on 9 December from 3pm to 4:30pm to listen and take part in the discussion.
