A Scottish bus operator will reduce its carbon emissions further after taking delivery of its fourth Enviro200 bus in the last 18 months.
Prentice of Haddington has acquired another of the 9.7m-long vehicles designed by Alexander Dennis Limited to minimise diesel emissions, as the bus and coach sector continues to find net-zero solutions to the decarbonisation of public transport.
The 13 to 14.4-tonne vehicle cuts out diesel emissions using engine stop-start technology, electrically driven cooling fans and the smart management of alternator and air compressors to charge the vehicle during deceleration.
The Enviro200 is certified as a Low Emission Bus by Zemo Partnership, a public-private partnership set up in 2003 that exists to accelerate a sustainable shift to lower carbon vehicles.
Prentice’s new bus has 34 seats and will go into service on the company’s routes around East Lothian, which it has operated for more than 30 years.
The new addition means Prentice of Haddington’s customer fleet is now complete with Euro VI vehicles.
