Specialist rail and infrastructure services provider Readypower Group is replacing its fleet of diesel vehicles with 45 hybrid electric Toyota Corolla Commercial vans.
The new vehicles, which enter service this month, will be used by the company’s engineers to support clients across the country.
Based on the Corolla Touring Sports passenger car and powered by the 1.8-litre hybrid powertrain, the Corolla Commercial – built in Derby – is the only full petrol hybrid electric van available in the UK market.
Available in a single equipment grade, its standard specification includes the full complement of Toyota Safety Sense active safety and driver assistance features.
Its hybrid system is self-charging, so businesses do not have to factor in vehicle downtime for recharging.
Toyota says this makes it a practical and attractive proposition for customers who are not yet in a position to adopt fully electric vehicles.
Readypower Group is an asset hire business with a specialist civil engineering division which supports customers in a wide range of sectors, including rail, power, highways and regulated infrastructure.
Tony Buckland, Transport Manager at Readypower Group, said: “We have been running diesel vans and were keen to address the issue of our vehicle emissions.
“We looked at diesel models available on the market, but by choosing Corolla Commercial hybrids we have been able to reduce our average fleet CO2 emissions.
“There is a further positive as we are supporting British industry with the vans being built here in the UK.”
