A North West distributor of commercial refrigeration, gaming and leisure equipment has added three new MAN TGX 18-tonners to its specialist fleet.

Hadfields Transport’s new vehicles are all 18.330 box body rigids, featuring GM cabs designed for long-haul transport, and 9.0-litre, in-line six-cylinder D15, engines that produce 330 hp.

They include i Electronic Braking System (EBS) Lane Departure Warning (LDW) Lane Change Support (LCS) Drivers Airbag, Active Brake Assist (ABS), Anti-Slip Control (ACS) ESP and EBA.

Each of the new vehicles has a specialist box body built by PPS Commercials of Bury (Manchester) and large cantilever tail lift fitted.

The trucks, which come with 84-month R&M contracts, will be maintained by MAN Truck & Bus Trafford Park Manchester.

Key to the family firm’s decision to continue its association with MAN was the fuel-efficient performance of 15 TGL 12-tonners, delivered into the operation in 2021.

Scott Langridge, Managing Director at Hadfields Transport, said: “Over the last year our 12-tonne MAN TGLs have served us well, the drivers like them, they’ve proved to be reliable and efficient and the level of service we receive from MAN Truck & Bus at Trafford Park is exemplary.

“These new vehicles will be the first MAN 18-tonners we have operated and although they have only recently gone on the road, the feedback we’ve received from the drivers is very positive indeed.

“Due to the nature of our operation, we often double-man our vehicles, so comfort and safety, throughout their working days, is paramount.”
