Bus designer and manufacturer Mellor has launched its high-floor zero emission electric bus – designed for operators serving those with specialist care needs such as those with special education needs, the elderly, and people with reduced ability.

The Sigma High Floor (HF) is available in two size appropriate length options at seven and nine metres, enabling specialist care providers and local authorities to meet their specific requirements for social service transport and mobility operations.

The Sigma HF 7 comes with up to 22 seats or seven wheelchairs, while the Sigma HF 9 includes 34 seats or up to 10 wheelchairs.

In addition, the completely flat-floor bus features a standard-fit wheelchair-friendly passenger lift, a range of 160 miles and a range of configurable options.

UK orders are already being received, with Mellor planning to sell the vehicle in overseas markets.

Richard Matthews, Sales Director at Mellor, said the HF range focuses on accessibility, comfort and the safety of passengers in both urban and rural environments.

“At Mellor, we believe that accessibility should never compromise on sustainability,” he said.

“Our industry-first HF electric bus, part of our much-loved Sigma range, is a game changer for specialist passenger transport.

“Our skilled team have worked hard to create a vehicle that is not only environmentally friendly but also offers maximum accessibility, safety, and comfort for passengers.

“This latest innovation brings us one step closer to making sustainable transport more inclusive and accessible for all.”
