LEVC’s new, flexible EV platform delivers up to 400-mile range

11 May 2023 #News

British manufacturer LEVC has revealed a new electric vehicle platform that will underpin its next generation of commercial and passenger-carrying vehicles – with a range that could travel from London to Glasgow.

Space Oriented Architecture (SOA), co-developed with Geely Holding Group, is a modular and scalable platform that has a centrally-located battery and fully flat floor, enabling multiple seating and load-carrying configurations so that operators can tailor the space dedicated to occupants and cargo.

LEVC, the maker of the TX London taxi and VN5 van – which are based on the same range-extender electrified platform – has developed SOA during the last two and a half years at R&D centres in the UK, Sweden, China and Germany.

The platform supports vehicle sizes from 4,860mm to 5995mm in length and 1945mm to 1998mm in width, with wheelbases from 3000mm to 3800mm. SOA is configurable for a wide range of EVs and offers front-wheel, rear-wheel and all-wheel drive layouts.

Equipped with a wide choice of batteries from 73kWh to 120kWh, it combines space with long ranges of up to 400 miles and ultra-fast charging.

Alex Nan, CEO of LEVC, said: “SOA optimises onboard space offering multiple configurations and endless possibilities, a new advanced EV platform which supports LEVC’s new strategy to become a leading zero-carbon mobility provider.

“Combined with our groundbreaking L-OS digital architecture, it will bring our new mission to life, delivering smart, green, safe and accessible mobility to all, enabling us to transform from a high-end taxi manufacturer, launching LEVC into new sectors, with an extended range of state-of-the-art pure electric vehicles.”
