Last week, SMMT relaunched the Bus, Coach and Minibus Technical Committee with its inaugural meeting, which covered in detail technical subjects from GB Type Approval and Euro VII to VECTO, passive safety and marking requirements for internal glazing.
SMMT’s technical groups are a key opportunity for engineers to discuss the finer details of a complex topic and make useful contributions to SMMT’s representation of the CV sector, in engagement with government at home and abroad that will shape the industry for years to come.
This month, a new round of section meetings will take place, including the Bus, Coach and Minibus Group, which will gather in Milton Keynes, while the Commercial Vehicle group will get an update on bridge strikes involving light commercial vehicles, as well as a presentation on electric vehicle range prediction technology.
Another key opportunity for SMMT members is access to our industry-leading events, such as the International Automotive Summit, held in central London on Tuesday 27 June, when we’ll welcome key stakeholders, national media and 300 senior level representatives from across the auto sector. Members get a free ticket, and those that haven’t yet booked are urged to do so – particularly in light of the event’s relevance to commercial vehicles, with keynote speeches from Saul Resnick, Chief Executive of DHL Supply Chain UK, and Chris Gall, Engineering Director at Alexander Dennis.
Additionally, a range of panel sessions will cover topics such as maximising automotive trade and international investment opportunities, competitive manufacturing and sustainable innovation – with insight that will help to shape your business at a time of fast-paced transition.
