Tell us a bit about the history of TVL?
With more than 80 years’ combined experience in keeping vans and livelihoods safe, TVL Security is the leading UK specialist in designing, manufacturing and installing advanced vehicle security systems. Our products are fitted both on the vehicle factory production line and sold in the aftermarket sector.
Whether we’re working with a sole trader or a big business, we’ve got everything they’ll need in the largest range of products they can find. We innovate, not imitate and we’re constantly developing our range to ensure we keep our edge over both the criminals and our competitors.
We refuse to rest on our laurels. Our Innovation Team work tirelessly to anticipate potential problems and react quickly to new methods employed by thieves. Meanwhile, our unique approach to joined-up manufacturing means we move from initial idea to market release with unmatched speed.
TVL Security is part of the TVL Group, where we understand the importance of working together. We’re made up of several businesses, each pooling our combined talents to build the biggest range of bespoke security products available. Our goal is simple: to give our customer peace of mind and unrivalled choice.
Describe TVL’s updated Hooklock 2.0 and ArmourShell 2.0 products on display at the CV Show earlier this year?
We are in constant communication with fleet and transport managers from companies of all shapes and sizes to guarantee we have a holistic view of the emerging crime trends and security needs in our sector.
In late 2022, one topic was coming up incredibly often – though our customers were delighted with the robust security products we supply, many wanted extra visibility within their operations to ascertain whether the solutions they had purchased were being used as intended on the front line.
Our connected HookLock 2.0 and ArmourShell 2.0 locking systems deliver that capability. Paired with a bespoke-built accompanying app, managers can access real-time feedback on the status of their vehicles’ locks. A first-of-its-kind solution for the UK’s aftermarket vehicle security sector, this can be used to aid driver coaching and validate attack claims, while also bringing users peace of mind.
Tell us about the ProtectAVan brand and the importance of the Swindon facility, opened last year?
Alongside our sites in Essex and Loughborough, Swindon is now site number three for ProtectAVan. Plus, at more than 6,000 square feet, it’s three times the size of our old centre in Fairford.
Put simply, it means more capacity. It means a bigger team with more space to carry out more jobs quickly and efficiently. It means shorter waiting times and peace of mind for our ever-growing client list. And that’s the whole point. We’re able to expand our network because our business is growing. Because our customers trust us and keep coming back, while new ones discover us every day. So, we’re making sure we can give all our customers, old and new, the best service possible in the only way we know how, by becoming bigger and better.
What benefits can van operators gain by using TVL’s Anti-Cut Shielding panels?
Our Anti-Cut Shielding panel range presents a lightweight and cost-effective security solution which leverage aramid fibres already used in applications including bulletproof vests to literally leave thieves tied in knots.
By installing these panels strategically around the vehicle’s interior, they provide a vital safety net, incapacitating any power tools which criminals may use to attempt to drill or cut through the vehicle’s exterior.
Who’s particularly benefited from TVL’s support?
We take great pride in delivering comprehensive security solutions to all our customers. A great example of this, is the success our products have had at utilities contractor Falco.
When they first reached out to us in 2022, they estimated that criminal attacks on their vehicles were costing them approximately £80,000 annually. However, since equipping more than 70% of its 140-strong van fleet with TVL products – ArmourShell, RepLock, HookLock, ProtektaPlate and an OBD Port Protector, specifically – earlier this year, the business noted an immediate reduction in attacks, with just two unsuccessful attempted break-ins to note.
