The Brakes and Drivers Assistance Systems Working Group monitors vehicle braking and steering regulations. Current Driver Assistance topics include the Automatically Commanded Steering Function (ACSF), Lane Keeping Assist Systems (LKAS), Automatic Parking and Intelligent Speed Adaptation (ISA). The working group aims to keep members informed of developments and briefs representatives with a view to provide effective lobbying in appropriate regulation-framing committees. The group also monitors draft ISO standards and provides a conduit through which members can influence the framing of the standards.
The Brakes and Driver Assistance Systems Working Group meets regularly, reports to and is annually reviewed by the Car and Light Commercial Vehicle Technical Committee (CLCVTC) and the Heavy Commercial Vehicle Technical Committee (HCVTC).
A ‘one page’ synopsis of each meeting is sent to all members of the committee, and is published in the monthly Technical Bulletin, which is available to all SMMT members on this site.
Any full, paid-up SMMT member company can apply to this group. However, group correspondence is only available in the restricted area of the site or as distributed by the Group secretary.
