The Sustainability Working Group acts to enhance the automotive and its associated supply chain commitment to balance economic progress with environmental care and social responsibility. Its primary way of doing this is through the provision of best practice sharing and reporting publicly on progress towards long-term sustainable development.
The SWG shall comprise representatives from signatories to the Sustainability report and SMMT.
The group reports to the Environmental Policy Committee.
SWG Objectives:
- report on economic progress, environmental care and social responsibility;
- report on performance against sector’s sustainability commitments, to reduce the environmental burden of the sector, and improve its social impact , including for example a better quality of life for communities affected by the sector’s activities (manufacture, use and disposal);
- establish a dialogue with a wide range of stakeholders.
