The UK’s membership of the European Union provides access to significant levels of EU funding, boosting UK automotive innovation.
- Horizon 2020 is the EU’s biggest research and innovation programme ever with nearly £33 billion of funding available over seven years. Horizon 2020 provides more than £250 million for automotive research projects in 2016-2017.
- In 2014, UK organisations won more than 5% of funding available under the Horizon 2020 Green Vehicles call and 9.5% of funding under Mobility for Growth.
- The development of a Rapid Charge Network across the UK and Ireland was co-financed by the EU Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), boosting the UK’s leadership on Ultra-Low Emission Vehicles.
