SMMT is organising a trade mission to Barcelona from 27 – 29 September, in partnership with HP, Sernauto and the Department for International Trade. More information on the visit is here.

Speaker Bios

Maria Luisa Soria, Public Affairs & Innovation Director
SERNAUTO

Doctor in Chemical Sciences from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and MBA from the Instituto de Empresa de Madrid. She joined SERNAUTO in 2008 as head of R&D&i, and from 2010 to 2017 she was the General Secretary of the Association. Currently, she is the Public Affairs & Innovation Director, and General Secretary of the Board of Directors. Represents the Association in national and international forums and work groups related to the automotive sector, as well as in meetings with public administrations with the aim of conveying the needs and concerns of the sector and proposing action measures to promote the competitiveness of the sector.

Maria Luisa has actively participated in European projects, like ERTRAC and EGVIA, and participates in the working groups of the European Association of Automotive Suppliers (CLEPA).

She has been collaborating for 20 years with the European Commission as an independent expert both in the evaluation and monitoring of European R&D projects and in the Horizon 2020 Transport Consultative Group.

 

Maryam Qureshi, 3D Print Applications Engineer UK & Ireland
HP 3D Printing & Digital Manufacturing 

Working in the Technical sales field for nearly 10 years, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Maryam started her career in a heat recovery company working to improve energy efficiency within steam and hot water systems. She was captivated by the innovative world of 3D print and made the move to HP in 2017 where she has been working as an Applications specialist.

For the last 5 years, Maryam has been working directly with customers assessing their needs and manufacturing limitations to help find bespoke solutions to their problems by encouraging the implementation of MJF solutions into their businesses. This includes designing for additive manufacturing and understanding the advantages of design for function . With the move to industry 4.0 and digitalisation of manufacturing, additive is the natural next step, transforming from being a prototyping tool to a game changer in reducing lead times, enabling new applications and mass customization.

 

José Luis Briceño, Director of Trade and Investment
Department of International Trade (DIT) UK Bilbao

Senior Executive in International Trade and Investment with a MA in European Law from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and a MBA from the CECO Business School. He has recently joined DIT UK Spain as Director for its Bilbao office and leads its activity on the automotive sector.

He has more than 22 years of experience in International Trade and Development in Europe and the United States working with private organizations and government agencies to promote trade and foreign direct investment and assisting companies achieve their internationalisation objectives.
